InnoMux2-EP – Multiple Independently Regulated Outputs Without DC-DC Converters

Of all the power supplies being shipped worldwide, half are chargers and adapters. Almost all of the other half require multiple output voltages. PI’s new InnoMux2-EP family of single-stage, independently regulated multi-output power supply ICs consolidate AC-DC and downstream DC-DC conversion stages into a single chip. This means high efficiency and accurate regulation for up to three outputs in white goods, industrial systems and other applications requiring multiple output voltages.

High-voltage InnoMux2-EP devices incorporate a 750 V PowiGaN primary switch, zero-voltage switching (without an active clamp) and synchronous rectification. They deliver up to 100 W with up to three constant voltage outputs, or one voltage output and a constant current output. The single-stage architecture reduces component count and PCB footprint while increasing efficiency by up to 10% compared to traditional two-stage solutions.

The advanced InnoMux-2 controller manages light-load power delivery, eliminating the need for pre-load resistors and reducing no-load consumption to less than 50 mW. This conserves power for necessary functionality in applications subject to the 300 mW allowance for standby usage under the ErP regulations. Thermally efficient InSOP24 and InSOP28 packages with PCB cooling means no heatsink is required.
