How to Clean the Touchscreen during the COVID-19 Outbreak Winmate gives some important tips to clean and disinfect your touchscreen display

The spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 alters everyone to re-think our daily life and hygiene. From personal hygiene to disinfection and cleaning procedures in public areas people are more concerned with staying clean and germ-free. Now it’s more important than ever to keep everything, including hardware clean and sanitary. While it is primarily spread from person-to-person, it’s also possible that a person can contract the virus by touching a contaminated surface or object, then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes. Whilst sanitizing is essential, it’s also important to follow the correct procedures for cleaning your touchscreens or portable devices in order to avoid damage. Here, Winmate outlines some useful advice on how to clean our products, and what cleaning agents are safe to use. Cleaning and disinfecting are two important steps to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and to protect staff and visitors from contracting and passing infections. Download Cleaning Instructions Preparation To prepare for cleaning the product make sure the device is not running and not connected to power in any ways. For mobile devices please make sure that all I/O covers are closed, batteries are inserted. We recommend using an industrial grade paper towel, that is stable when wet and does not make lint, fluff and paper left over. Please use a spray bottle to apply a mist of disinfection solution in a fine layer, we recommend using Isopropyl Alcohol 70% for disinfection. Avoid highly concentrated alcohol (greater than 70% concentration), non-diluted bleach or ammonia solutions, as these may cause discoloration. Wear one way silicone gloves and face mask when disinfecting the devices to avoid any cross contamination. Do not forget to always wash your hands with water and soap before and after wearing gloves. Some examples: Cleaning and Disinfecting Spray the device from all sides and wipe the solution off with the paper towel, especially in the edges and corners. Do not get liquids inside the unit or spray the product directly. Do not re-use the paper towel for the next devices to avoid cross contamination. Let the device stand for half an hour to let the alcohol residue to evaporate, before using the device again. Discard the face mask, towels used and gloves appropriately as medical waste.
